  • It is so nice that it has finally cooled off here in the Valley of the Sun!  Today the high was around 62 or 63!  Lovely!

My son had his end of the season football party today from 12 to 2.  It was supposed to last until 4, but there was no way it was going to take that long, so we all left early.  They provided food (Boston Market), cake, and little awards for each of the kids.  The kids all had a really good time and it was a nice way to wrap up the season.  I exchanged phone numbers with one of the moms, so it will be interesting to see if we actually stay in touch.

The little man wasn't feeling so hot before or after the party, he was having a few tummy issues.  He was really tired and wiped out after the party, and also combined with being chilly from outdoors and then coming in and getting warm and cozy in the house, caused him to give in and conk out for quite a long nap after we got home from the party.  He slept for an hour and a half.  I fell asleep too and I think I slept for about an hour.  That was nice and he perked up after he woke up.  He still isn't quite 100%, but seems to be on the mend and hasn't had any more tummy issues since we got home.  Unfortunately, now it is bed time and we are both wide awake.  We'll see how that goes over in the morning when we are trying to get out of bed for church!

My Recipe of the Week this time was for Orange Spice Glazed Carrots.  They were made in the crockpot.  They turned out really good!  It is a good fall dish to make.  I think it is funny because although they taste good, if you stick your face over the crockpot and smell them while they are cooking- they smell kind of yucky!  It is a hard smell to describe, but they definitely don't smell as good as they taste.

I hope everyone is having a great day! Oh, also, I just started a new book, one of the true crimes studies by Ann Rule.  I've read many of these books throughout the years and I'm sure I'll like this one.  I hope it doesn't invade my dreams too badly-sometimes her books are nightmare worthy.

  • It's been very simular the weather here as well. Yesterday was only about 66 and that's down a lot from last week when it was close to 90. I actually feel kind of cold now, so I will really have to get used to the cooler weather again if I go back to Vancouver in February. It's nice to get the football season finished in such a nice way, I'm sure you'll make some new friends from some of those people that you exchanged numbers with.

Hopefully getting up on Sunday morning wasn't too difficult. It's nice to take a nap, but always important to make sure that no over sleeping is done. I should take my own advice because I've been staying up late and getting up late and I really want to get out of that pattern. The carrot dish really sounds interesting. It has to be one of those things that people really just need to try before making judgments. Good luck with your new book, hopefully it won't be too heavy of a read before bed. Take care and have a great rest of the week, bye for now.

  • I'll have to look for that book.  I love Ann Rule.  She certainly does a lot of research when she writes about the various cases she follows.

I know you must be glad that football season is over.  It sounds like the coaches did a great  job in throwing the party for the kids and their parents.  I'm sure your son has happy memories of his season too.

We are currently in central Florida for the winter.  We had a couple of cool nights but now it is back up to very pleasant weather...Can't beat it.

  • I've heard really good things about Ann Rule - I need to read her. I'm just in the middle of The Book Thief. Have you read it? I'm not sure what I think of it yet - jury's still out but I'll let you know. We have snow here so I don't feel sorry for your 'chilliness' lol ;P
    teasing ya as usual:)

  • Never cooked carrots in the crockpot.
Hope you are both on schedule by the time you read this.
