  • Today was the first day that my new tenant needed to pay rent.  She paid move in fees and stuff last month, but this is the first time that she would owe just a regular installment-and she came through!!!!  WHEW!!!!  I am so relieved!!!!  I am always so nervous about that-because getting someone out of the house when they aren't paying rent can also be a hassle, and in the meantime there wouldn't be any income....but hopefully I never have to worry about that with this lady!

Tonight was my son's first night of football practice.  He did a great job.  I am proud to see how much he has matured and how much his skills have improved since last year.  He had a good time.  Every kid on the team made it through the first night without throwing up, which is actually quite an accomplishment in this heat.  There are different coaches this year, which I am very happy about. These new coaches seem much more interested in teaching the kids rather than just yelling at them and putting their personal children in all the best positions.  I'm happy to see that they are working with the kids, teaching them, and still laughing with them and enjoying them.  It is very... refreshing.

Oh, I'm so proud of my grandma!  She took the initiative at the nursing home to go to the activities office and ask if they needed any help with anything.  They ended up putting her in the office helping sort and shred paper, and do little odd jobs.  In addition to that, she joined up with the meet and greet team for new residents, so now she gets to go around and say hello to people, help them find their way, give them a little baggy of hand lotions, etc.  I think that is fantastic! I am so proud of her for taking that step, and for beginning to find her niche.  So much better for her than just sitting around!

  • That's great about your grandma.  When Will's mother was in the home she just ended up sitting around and it seemed the less she moved the worse she got.  At the end, she could not do anything other than just sit around and wait to die.  I hate that.

  • Sounds like everything is going well. I'm decided if I'll be signing my son up for soccer in the fall. He's never played sports before.

  • Good for Grandma!

  • Happy to hear that grandma is adjusting so well:) I think it's great that she's getting involved with activities :) I'm also happy to hear about football and the new coaches. Coaches can make or break a kids spirit

  • I've heard of so many horror stories with landlords and renters...... they can both be such bad people at times. I know some people who just gave up with rental properties because they had so much bad experiences with the people living in there. It truly is difficult to find some great people. In my parents house there has been a lady living there for almost six years now and she's been perfect. It took them a long time to find a good person before though as they went through a list of not so great renters.

It's always great to involve kids in sports or other extra curricular activities that they would enjoy. Too often kids are just playing video games and on the computer and really don't have anything else to do and that really is not healthy for them at all. With kids sports there definitely has to be a group of dedicated coaches who really want the kids to learn and most importantly have fun. Some parents need to cooperate as well though, I've read so many stories about parents going overboard because their kids weren't playing or they disagreed with a call. At the end of the day it's just about the kids getting exercise and having fun !

It's great to hear that your grandmother is doing so well at her new place. She has really become a part of the community there and truly wants to help out and do what she can. I'm sure she really enjoys doing that and a lot of people will appreciate her efforts. She'll definitely be able to make new friends as well so she is doing just wonderfully there from the sounds of it. Take care and have an awesome weekend !

  • We have a duplex we rent out but have been repainting and fixing things from the last family that had to be put out because they weren't paying. I wish we could get rid of it! Hopefully if we can find a good CLEAN renter this next time I will be a little happier. I just don't understand how some people can be so nasty and destroy things!
Good for your grandma getting involved like that. It will make a difference in her attitude and well-being. Glad football is going well for your boy.
