  • This morning my son and I slept in, which ended up being only until 6:30 (I was shocked-I fully expected to sleep until 8:00!!!), and then got up and met a friend from church for breakfast.  That was Einstein Bagels, and I just love that place.  I had a honey wheat bagel with cream cheese, my son had a plain bagel with cream cheese, and the other person had a 4 cheese bagel.  The food was delicious and we had a good time.

Afterwards, my son and I took off and went to the far east valley to meet my parents at another horse sale.  This one turned out to be some sort of special event sale, with high dollar horses.  We left when we realized they were in the $20,000 range, because that is certainly not the price range my parents are looking for right now.  It was still fun to go.  When we left there, we went to the other salebarn, which is about 15 minutes down the road-but unfortunately they were already done selling and were only left with goats and sheep to auction off.  We didn't stay for that so came on back home.

I have had a bit of a problem today with my son's attitude.  I hate that, because then I feel bad that I have to get him in trouble. I know, I know...all part of shaping a responsible and good adult, but it still always makes me feel like a jerk.  Oh well, it worked out...

And now we are home and doing laundry and stuff like that!

  • I lived awhile in northern Arizona in 60's. I taught school there for a couple years. I loved it that some of my students had horses & I got to ride at their places during the summer. I wished that I could have lived where I could have a horse while I was growing up. I wanted my kids to have a horse, too; but t'was not to be. Thank you for visiting my site and for your kind comment.

  • OMG!!! I hadn't even thought about the white dog statue! I know I would have proudly displayed it in my livingroom. Or, how cool would it have looked on my front porch with reindeer antlers on it for Christmas?

I am a major animal lover, but have never been around horses. After seeing "War Horse" for the 2nd time yesterday, I've decided I really like them.

  • Do you guys have horse rescue sites down there? We have people here who rescue horses from slaughter houses and then sell the rescued horses at cost. That's actually how we ended up with our one chubby horse who almost floundered. About son's mini attitude - I KNOW!!! It's hard getting on them and we often second guess how hard we should come down on them. BUT...he needs to understand that attitude is very important before he becomes a teen and late teen ( I'm finding 17/18 a lot of eye rolling and deep sighs from my kids) so don't feel too bad. Guilt is one of the hardest parts of parenting:) but he's a great little guy and with the way you parent will be a great young man when he's older:) hang in there:)

  • Hi there..so nice you stopped by my site and thank you for your comment..glad you liked it..nice to meet you. Oh my..I just love horses..so majestic..so beautiful..we don't see them here unless we up to the mountains..and I will keep you grandma in my prayers..hope she is doing better...those bagels sounded yummy ..take good care..hugs...Lee

  • Do your parents live in the country?  What will they do with the horse when they find one they want?  Never too early to start that discipline as you train them up in the way they should go.  As long as it's fair and firm it benefits them in the end.  It saved us a lot of headaches with Elita.  She was an easy kid to raise because we tried to keep the discipline appropriate and fair but still to the point where she knew we meant business.  No room for bad attitudes.  I can honestly say none of my gray hairs are from her! :)
