  • This was such a WEIRD day!!!  Lots of very strange phone calls at work.  Nothing particularly bad or stressful, just strange!   I wonder what tomorrow will bring?!

Tonight I am going to start reading The Rats of NIMH to my son.  I just finished rereading it myself and I am sure he is at an age where he'll like it! I am excited to see if he likes it as much as I do, or if his taste is totally different.  To be honest, I can't imagine a child NOT liking that book.  Then again, I'm pretty sure my own sister didn't like it, so who knows!?

This is the book that I am currently reading, We Thought You Would Be Prettier.  It is so funny that I have actually laughed out loud (hard!) in several places.  The author lives right here in the same city as I do, which makes it even funner because she writes about places that I actually know.

  • I can't imagine a little boy not loving that book. I'll have to check the We Thought You Would be Prettier book out.

  • Loved the Rats of Nimh!  My kids used to love it.  Need to get to read to the grands.

  • Strange is certainly interesting ! At least you get these types of calls at your job. It would be a little boring if everyday was basically exactly the same. It's wonderful that you are spending great time with your son and reading to him. Not enough parents are putting in the effort to do that. It will be interesting to see if he enjoys the story. And if not it's not a big deal as there are so many other stories out there that he'd love. It's great you found a book that you are enjoying so much and laughing at. And the fact that you can relate to a lot of the places in the book makes it so much more personal for you. Take care and enjoy the rest of the week, bye for now.

  • I love it when a book I am reading mentions the town where I live.....or that the author lived  here.  Makes it more personal somehow...I hope your son enjoys the book...I bet he loves it when you read to him.   I used to do that with my son as well.  Now he is an adult and a very avid reader of many subjects...

  • I remember the Rats - loved it!!! maybeI'll check out the other book you mentioned:) I always get excited when I read something in a book about the city where we live...not that it happens very often. In fact I can only remember it twice lol
