  • Renter

Yesterday I got an email from the lady who manages my rental house.  She said the tenant had some car problems and then ended up changing jobs, so she wants to know if I will let her make her rent payment by the 15th of the month instead of by the 1st until she gets caught back up, which is going to be at least through the end of the year.  I went ahead and said yes.  I don't really want to do it, but then there really isn't a good reason for me to say no.  Since it will obviously help her out, I went ahead and said yes.  I haven't had any problems with her so far and she seems to go by her word, so I'm just praying for the best.

I started again on The Shack last night.  I've started the book 3 or 4 times and then actually lost it each time.  I unearthed it and picked up where I left off (still had my marker in it) and read four chapters last night.  At first I just thought it was terribly depressing, but the more I read, the better it is getting.  I will see how it goes!  I know lots of people who read it and really liked it a lot.

  • That's nice of you to be understanding about the rent. Obviously it could make things harder for you, especially if you really needed that money too, but sometimes things happen in life and we it's nice to give people a break. And besides we never know when we'll be in the same sorts of situations, so it's always good to do a nice thing for someone. I would really have to force myself to get to read a book. I actually read a biography last year and it took me about a year to read a book of 400 and some pages.

Hopefully you continue to enjoy the book and it ends up being a great read for you. Take care and have a wonderful weekend, bye for now.

  • That really was nice of you allowing the renter some extra time to get caught up.   I know people who have read the shack, some like it others didn't, too depressing.  I have never read it, maybe I should

  • I read The Shack a few  years ago....I enjoyed some of it very much...I did think it was depressing in some areas but I was glad that I read it.

Hope the renter can get back on track...sounds like she had some bad luck.....

  • I never read The Shack and didn't realize it was depressing; when it came out, it was flying off the shelves! So I know there were plenty of people who loved it.

The guy from whom my brother rented a house was do good with them about the rent. I was surprised because I don't know if I could have been so flexible. But they took care of the place wonderfully and did lots of projects that should have increased the value of the home, and when he was employed again, they paid up in full. He was such a nice guy about it; it really impressed me!

  • It was the kind thing to do to give her a little extra time. Of course, if asking for extensions becomes a habit for her, then you might be less gracious in agreeing to them.
I didn't love The Shack. Theologically, it's a hot mess.

  • Hope the renting works out. We have been working to fix things the previous renters trashed in the duplex we have, which I never wanted! Larry's son lives on one side and we are hoping to get a renter on the other side. I have been praying for someone who keeps it clean and pays on time. It's very frustrating to have to fix things and then rip up carpet, paint the floor instead of putting down more carpet, clean a filthy oven and paint all the rooms, hoping the next person will keep it clean and act like a normal person.
I read The Shack a few years ago and it was very good.
