  • Where does the time go!?

I didn't realize it had been so long since my last entry here!

We have really been keeping busy with football practice every evening.  We usually don't even get home until 8:00 or after, and then it is a quick shower for the little man, and off to bed.  The practices are grueling, because temperatures have been anywhere from 110 to 116.  The association has made it mandatory to do water breaks every 15 minutes, so there is a lot of running off and on the field to get the jugs, etc.  I am very glad they are so diligent about keeping the kids hydrated, though, otherwise they would be really sick.  As it is, we have had two pukers so far. That was my son last year, but thank goodness, this year he has done better and is making a huge effort to eat healthy and stay hydrated, and it is really paying off for him.

I had a good birthday last week.  I went over for a very late (after football practice) dinner with an old friend.  He is actually someone I used to date a long time ago, and referred to as the handsome soldier, so some of you have probably heard of him.  We've remained friends even though it never went anywhere romantically.  He called during the practice and asked me to come over after football.  He has recently been deep sea fishing with his family and brought back tons of delicious seafood....he made fish tacos.  His parents were in town so they were there and they are tons of fun as well.  It was a very good time.

My son has taken an interest in watching Cupcake Wars and Chopped with me, which I love!  I am glad he is kind of outgrowing the Nothing But Cartoons EVER stage and is interested in some more grownup shows.  I say that now, but two days ago I was bemoaning the fact that my baby is growing up... lol   laughing

    Ok, Off I go!!!!

  • Happy belated birthday! Wow, those are some awful temps for football practices, for sure! That is great that they are taking such frequent water breaks. Practices can be long for the parents, too. How old is your son? A year certainly makes a lot of difference at that age!

  • Glad things are going well with you!

  • Wow I can only imagine what it is like practicing and playing in temperatures like that. I will be in Sonora next week in Mexico, and thats the state right south of Arizona so I'll get a real taste of that sort of heat. Though I have no plans on playing football in the afternoon haha. I did joke that I would try going for a run in the heat, though I realize that's not a very good idea so I won't do anything dumb. It's good to hear that the people running the football program are ensuring the kids stay hydrated as that is extremely important. Though it would probably be a smarter idea to run the football program during the fall !

Happy late birthday !!!!! I'm glad to hear you had a fun birthday and got to spend some time with someone that you like being around. It's great that you've managed to stay friends throughout the years. It sounds like you really enjoyed some delicious food. That's cute that your son enjoys watching some shows with you : ) I remember when I was a kid I used to enjoy watching some shows like Unsolved Mysteries, even though it's not for kids really ! Anyways take care and have an awesome weekend, bye for now.
